Luckily for you, Coastal Inns are close to some of the best that Maritime craft alcohol has to offer! Thinking about planning a craft wine, beer, or spirits tour? Read on for some of the best!
Moncton:
If you find yourself at the Coastal Inn Moncton, you’ve got a great place to start your tour! With a number of breweries and a great winery and distillery both within a short trip, Moncton offers a great beginning.
Tire Shack: Relative newcomer to the Moncton craft brewery scene, Tire Shack Brewing (named for the building they refitted for their brewing needs) has quickly become the spot for grabbing a pint.
Magnetic Hill Winery: Since 2005 Magnetic Hill Winery has been providing great wines, a great atmosphere, and a great view of the GMA from the top of Magnetic Hill.
Sussex Craft Distillery: Situated in Sussex NB, about 80 km’s South East of Moncton, Sussex Craft Distillery is continuing an oft-forgotten tradition of drink-making in Cow Town NB. Making several kinds of rums, Sussex Craft Distillery is worth the drive!
Sackville:
Coastal Inn Sackville brings you to a town that has been shaped by years of students and free thinkers. Home of Mt Allison University, and yearly festivals like SappyFest, this is a small town worth exploring.
Bagtown Brewery: Initially started by an entrepreneurship class at Mt. A, Bagtown Brewery aims to create quality beer that captures student craftiness, Sackville quirkiness, and big ideas!
Antigonish:
Another university town, Antigonish is home to St Francis Xavier University and is close to the causeway leading to Cape Breton.
Steinhart Distillery:
Located on the shores of Northumberland Strait, Thomas Steinhart continues a 300-year-old family distilling tradition from the Black Forest of Germany, crafting gin, vodka, and liqueurs.
Big Spruce Brewing: If you’re heading towards Cape Breton on a day trip, Big Spruce Brewing is worth the stop. Eastern Canada’s only on-farm, organic craft brewery with amazing views of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Bras D’Or Lake, Big Spruce is waiting for you!
Digby:
Nature abounds in Digby and that is reflected in the breweries and wineries nearby.
Casa Nova Fine Beverages: Formerly known as Annapolis Highlands Winery, Casa Nova uses fresh ingredients sourced from throughout Nova Scotia, so you can enjoy a fresh twist of their heritage!
Lazy Bear Brewing: Brewed with the “bear” essentials, Lazy Bear Brewing is located a short drive from Digby giving you great brews and a great view!
Halifax/Dartmouth
Situated next to each other on the Halifax Harbour, Halifax and Dartmouth are home to many great restaurants, bars, and of course, breweries.
Garrison: The OG of Maritime Craft Beer, Garrison has been brewing small batches since 1997. The seaport taproom lets you drink great beer with sites and sounds of Halifax Harbour as your backdrop!
Propeller: Another one of the original craft breweries, Propeller has three locations in the Halifax area, both in Halifax AND in Dartmouth!
We absolutely can’t wait to welcome you and tell you all about our favourite local beer & wine producers – there are some amazing flavours to experience out there!
