Pumpkin Fest Market (Oct 15th): Celebrate all things pumpkin at Fisherman’s Cove Heritage Centre. A perfect family day out to get ready for the spookiest night of the year!

Candlelight Concerts in Halifax: From tributes to Queen and Taylor Swift to haunted evenings of Halloween classics, enjoy unique musical experiences in the candlelight.

Haunted Corn Trail at The Green Pig Country Market: This trail becomes a haunted adventure for four special nights. Ensure you’re there by 9 PM to experience ALL the surprises. Taking place on October 21 – 22 and 28 – 29 from 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM for $20 per person.
Boo at the Zoo: Experience two weekends of Halloween-themed fun at the Magnetic Hill Zoo on October 21, 22, 28, and 29.
Sackville, NB:
2ND ANNUAL HALLOWEEN SPOOK WALK AT ATLANTIC WILDLIFE INSTITUTE! (Oct 29th): A trek through the spooky woods awaits, supporting wildlife care in the process.
Antigonish:
Autumn Market @ Antigonish Legion (Oct 22nd): Explore local crafts and treasures with over 30 local vendors and plenty of flea market tables to peruse!
Annual Roast Beef Dinner (Oct 22nd): After the Autumn Market, hop in the car and take the short trip to Guysborough for the annual Roast Beef dinner at St. Patrick’s Hall. Delicious, homestyle cooking is SO good for the soul.
Digby:
Halloween Celebration at Weymouth Waterfront Library (Oct 24th): A fantastic event for children aged 6 to 12, with a myriad of challenges and activities.
DIY Halloween Treats
For something a little different, here are a couple of favourite seasonal treat recipes from the team that we’d like to share!
Rosemary Pumpkin Seed Brittle
Ingredients:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, sliced
2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup golden syrup
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 1/2 cups roasted, salted pepitas
1 tbsp. chopped fresh rosemary
1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
Large-flake sea salt (such as Maldon)
Directions:
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large saucepan, combine sugar, water, butter, and golden syrup and bring to a boil. Cook until caramel is light brown.
Remove from heat, stir in baking soda, then quickly mix in pepitas, rosemary, and pepper.
Spread the mixture on the baking sheet, sprinkle with sea salt, cool completely, and break into pieces.
Peanut Butter Monster Munch Halloween Party Mix
Ingredients:
Popcorn, pretzels, peanuts, and candies
Unsalted butter
Honey
Sugar
Salt
Creamy peanut butter
Heavy cream
Candy melts and sprinkles (optional)
Directions:
Mix popcorn, pretzels, peanuts, and candies, then spread them onto two large-rimmed baking sheets.
In a pan, melt butter, add honey and sugar, and cook until caramelized.
Remove from heat, stir in salt, peanut butter, and cream, then drizzle over the dry mix.
Optionally, top with melted candy melts and sprinkles, let set, and enjoy!
