Summer is starting to wind down but we’re still in the thick of our busiest time of year and having a blast! It’s been a wonderful summer, with tons of guests from all over visiting and adventuring on the East Coast. It’s certainly been a bit of a damp season, but there’s been no shortage of events & festivals to take in and there are still some highlights worth checking out in the coming days/weeks if you’re in our neck of the woods! Let’s see what’s on the go.
Moncton/Dieppe:
Acoustica showcases SO much local musical talent and features several performances that will still be running until the end of the month! All Acoustica series this year still have performances left that you can check out over the next week!
Mosaiq Multicultural Festival gets underway next month and has a stellar lineup for 2023 – learn more about these standout performers and the festival on their website!
Sackville NB:
The 21st Annual Sackville Fall Fair is happening this September! Live music, great food, and SO much to see & do. Comedian James Mullinger is performing at Convocation Hall on September 20th, the fall parade is on Saturday, September 23rd, and there’s even a sand castle-making competition!!
Digby:
Wharf Rat Rally – Hit the streets in Diby this year with the 19th annual Wharf Rat Rally! One of Canada’s largest motorcycle rallies that will bring in THOUSANDS! Digby is a blast during this event, most of Main St is open only to bikes and foot traffic. There will be plenty of events, rides, contests, and live entertainment for the whole crew!
Antigonish:
The Art After Dark festival in Antigonish is in its 14th year this season. Interactive works of all different mediums will be featured throughout downtown Antigonish. This festival is a fantastic showcase of works from artists local to this more rural part of Nova Scotia.
Halifax/Dartmouth:
Halifax Fringe Festival kicks off on August 30th and is HUGE this year! Featuring over 350 individual performances over 55 shows, this independent theatre festival is one of our favourite open-access events to showcase local arts.
Halifax Colour Festival is bright, fun, and a great opportunity to dance your heart out while making an absolute MESS! Check it out on Sept 2 at Alderney Landing in Dartmouth. Each of the vibrant colours used is completely non-toxic and biodegradable so you can throw caution (and colour) to the wind!
Just because summer’s coming to a close, doesn’t mean there’s a lack of FUN to be had! This is only a short list of what’s on the go across our communities in the coming weeks, but there is so much more to do. Whether you’re looking for a quick back-to-school shopping getaway or a quiet relaxation escape before the leaves start to change – we hope to see you soon!
Happy travels!
