For many people, the Holiday Season presents the best. The best time of year spent with the best of our friends and family celebrating with the best of food and gifts. Here at Coastal Inns, you can be sure that we’re on the same page, as we LOVE the holidays.
In our last blog, we talked a little bit about some of the things our properties do to help support their communities. This is a huge part of what we think makes this time of year so special – the ability to give back and make it a little more special for some of those that might be struggling. But it doesn’t stop there – there is plenty of fun to be had!
You can be sure that all of our hotels are ‘dressed’ for the occasion and our staff all love adding holiday touches to the time our guests spend with us. We have a few ideas of things you might want to check out if you’re spending any time with us this Christmas.
Halifax/Dartmouth
If you find yourself in the HRM over the Christmas, you will not be at a loss of things to do. For last-minute shoppers, an afternoon at the Dartmouth Crossing will surely finish off your list. For some unique and exciting family fun, many hours can be spent at Playdium, a brand new (and huge) arcade on-site at Dartmouth Crossing.
Glow Halifax Christmas Light Festival and Market is at it again this year with a Fairytale Christmas. A million lights strewn about the Halifax Exhibition Centre make for an amazing time with their new interactive zone, and live entertainment daily!

The Halifax Waterfront will also be taking part with the Evergreen Festival happening. A walkable outdoor trail of twinkling holiday lights, and storefront displays, including the Evergreen Village of activities and attractions, the Evergreen Market stocked with great local vendors, and the Evergreen Stage, presented by the Jazz East Rising Association will have entertainment throughout!

Digby

Antigonish
Visiting Antigonish during the holiday season presents a new look at the university town. Most of the student population will have left for home, which leaves just you and the locals. This year, the town has partnered with local businesses to present A Hometown Christmas, with tours, storytelling, drive-in movies, and more all throughout December!

Moncton
The Great Moncton Area is prime for holiday visiting. Downtown is looking as festive as ever, and the seasonal feature menus at many of the local restaurants and pubs make for delicious adventures. Our Coastal Inn Dieppe/Moncton location is situated about as close to Champlain Place and Bass Pro Shops as one could possibly, right across the street and only a few minutes stroll from the best shopping in the city!
If you use the HotSpot Parking App, you can snag two hours of free parking in Downtown Moncton on Friday December 17th and 24th, perfect for a lunch-date or to pick up a few late stocking stuffers.
In the evening, make your way over to the Riverview side of the Petitcodiac and take a stroll along Riverfront Park to take in the lights. The Town of Riverview has been doing a wonderful job decorating the entire length of the park with stunning light. This year

Sackville
This year, Sackville NB’s The Church by the Lake is, quite literally, lighting things up! From now until Christmas Eve, you can vote for your favourite light display in the town! Use the voting list and Google Maps to check out the entries while you’re in town!

So, there are a few options to help you enjoy your holidays with us at Coastal Inns. If you’re looking for more to fill the calendar, give us a call, or speak with the front desk – they’ll be able to help you fill the itinerary and make memories!
We hope all of you have a wonderful Christmas. As you spend time with loved ones and take part in the fun, it never hurts to be reminded to stay safe! Weather will be unpredictable and roads can be slippery – plan your road trips accordingly and be sure to stay off the road whenever possible if conditions are poor. Happy holidays!
